A Patna-bound SpiceJet flight was forced to return to Delhi shortly after takeoff on Thursday morning following a technical snag. The aircraft, operating as flight SG 497 on a Boeing 737, landed safely back in the capital without any reported injuries.
According to the airline, all passengers were deboarded normally, and an alternate aircraft was promptly arranged to continue the journey to Patna. SpiceJet did not specify the nature of the technical issue or the number of passengers onboard but confirmed that safety protocols were followed.
In a similar incident a day earlier, an Air India Newark-bound flight (AI191) also returned to Mumbai due to a suspected technical issue. The flight landed safely, and both AI191 and its return flight AI144 from Newark to Mumbai were cancelled as the aircraft underwent inspection. Passengers were provided hotel accommodation and rebooked on alternate flights.
The back-to-back incidents have once again drawn attention to in-flight safety measures and the quick response protocols followed by airlines to ensure passenger security.
